My Favorite Quote!
“Confidence comes not from always being right, but from not fearing to be wrong.”
Eleanor Roosevelt

Capable Cabin was created for women and their families who want to feel ready—not fearful. This is practical preparedness rooted in real life: planning ahead, protecting what matters, and building systems that actually work when things don’t go as planned.
02
Calm, Capable, Confident. Preparedness doesn’t have to be overwhelming or extreme. Here, it’s about clarity, organization, and steady confidence—breaking big problems into manageable steps that help you feel calm and capable, even in uncertain moments.

Built for real women and real families. Everything you’ll find here is designed with families in mind. Busy households, real budgets, real risks, and real responsibilities—without the noise, panic, or intimidation that so often surrounds preparedness.

how I got Here
Why I Love What I Do
Capable Cabin grew out of real life, not theory. My background is in outdoor survival, environmental science, and technology, but the experiences that shaped this space happened on the ground. Through our work as a northern barging and marine contracting company, we’ve helped families access and care for remote, water-access properties. Working in these environments means seeing firsthand how quickly everyday life can change when weather turns, power goes out, or supplies aren’t easy to reach.
I’ve also lived through it myself. I’ve experienced severe flooding and an ice storm that completely destroyed our local energy grid—leaving roads blocked by fallen trees and downed hydro lines, and entire communities without power or access for over a week. Those moments change how you think. You rely on what you’ve already put in place. You plan ahead. You build margin. That’s why preparedness, to me, isn’t about fear or worst-case thinking—it’s about freedom. Capable Cabin exists to share that mindset through practical planning, financial readiness, and simple home systems that quietly support your family.
